SIGCH Monthly Coffee Hours
18 Aug 2025
We’re excited to invite members to our new monthly coffee hour! This will be an informal space for open conversation around topics related to conferences, community, and chapters. As the community goes through big changes with ACM Open, geopolitical shifts, and more, these gatherings are a chance to share what’s on your mind and connect with us and other members. Some coffee hours may have a theme depending on current events.
Our first coffee hour will be on ACM Open: When: August 21 at 2pm UTC (in your time zone) Where: On Zoom
We’ll rotate times each month to accommodate different time zones. You can expect email announcements about future coffee hours. Whether you have thoughts or questions to share, or simply want to listen in, we’d love to have you there!
SIGCH Open Call for Volunteers 2025
07 Aug 2025
Announcing our new open call for volunteers (deadline Sept 30th)!
The SIGCHI Exec is supported by several committees. We are working with current chairs to review how committee remits can best support the SIG. The 16 committees we are currently recruiting for are listed in our call in bold.
If you are currently a volunteer, you can reaffirm your interest in serving in your role(s) using the form (linked above). If you are not currently a volunteer, but would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please use the same form.
We will close this call on September 30th, and work with committee chairs to match people to volunteer roles.
Further details, including committee-specific calls, are in our Medium blog post.
Please email sigchi-4all@acm.org with any questions.
Q&A + Blog Post on ACM Open Transition
30 May 2025
As we have been discussing with conference leaders, the ACM Council voted back in March on a transition plan for ACM Open (which kicks off on January 1, 2026) towards ensuring that our conferences and SIG do not lose people as we make the shift to open access.
On Monday (June 2, 7pm UTC), we will be joined by Scott Delman, ACM Director of Publications, who will talk to us about the transition and answer any questions we might have. Any members who would like to learn more about our upcoming conference transition to ACM Open is welcome.
See the event page for the Zoom link.
You may also wish to read our blog post published last month on the transition, which outlines details of the plan and answers some frequently asked questions.
